Xizhou and Gangshan EfW Plants Operated by ECOVE Successfully Passed Carbon Footprint Verification

ECOVE is a dedicated practitioner of resource recycling, making every effort to promote net zero and carbon emissions reduction. In addition to completing greenhouse gas verification for operational control sites, ECOVE is actively conducting product carbon footprint verification. In the field of incineration, following the completion of carbon emission verification for the Miaoli and Keelung Energy-from-Waste (EfW) plants that it operates, Gangshan EfW Plant and Xizhou EfW Plant have also recently obtained ISO 14067:2018 verification statement, a remarkable achievement in reducing carbon emissions.

ISO 14067, the international certification standard for product carbon footprint, is used to review greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout the entire lifecycle of a company’s products or services, including both direct and indirect carbon emissions from raw materials, transportation, manufacturing to final disposal stages. This is one of the tools that governments and businesses can use to develop greenhouse gas reduction plans and achieve net-zero targets.

According to the carbon footprint verification results for plants operated by ECOVE, Gangshan plant on average has 150 kg of carbon emissions per metric ton of processed waste. On top of that, Xizhou plant reached record low carbon footprint among all waste disposal services in Taiwan, with 141 kg of emissions on average. Based on these verification results, strategies can be developed to reduce emissions at key plants and enhance resource recycling efficiency through technological integration. Furthermore, by calculating how much carbon emissions comes from a metric ton of waste disposed, it can serve as a valuable industry benchmark for calculating carbon emissions derived from waste disposal, enabling ECOVE to collaborate with partners to establish sustainable supply chain. In the future, ECOVE will continue providing low-carbon products, leading the way for the supply chain and customers to achieve Net Zero 2050.
