Five of ECOVE EfW Plants Honored with the Excellence Awards in EPA Annual Appraisal

ECOVE, has long been dedicated to improve resource cycling efficiency; the efforts have been recognized with 2018 annual evaluations for incineration plants organized by Environmental Protection Administration (EPA). ECOVE Keelung Plant honored with the premium award; Miaoli Plant, Taoyuan Plant, and Wujih Plant honored with the excellence award; Tainan Plant honored with the special award.

ECOVE Keelung Plant rolls out shock pulse generators (SPG) technology to clean out ash in pipeline, reduce unscheduled shutdown happening, and significantly improve the boiler operation rate. In addition, Keelung Plant has also been actively involved in good-neighbor activities to enhance public awareness of environmental protection and neighborhood caring.

ECOVE Taoyuan plant, having won its 9th award in annual appraisal, rates as no. 1 among 24 plants over here in terms of the electricity selling rate (87.7%). It generates 250,000 MWh of energy which could supply about 70,000 households with electricity throughout the year.

ECOVE  Miaoli plant has won its 8th award in annual appraisal, including 2 premium awards and 5 excellence awards. The Plant took lead in adopting an “automatic pound system” with vehicle identify and e-tag functions to greatly save hours of work and improve working efficiency.

ECOVE Wujih Plant has won one energy technology special award and two excellence awards in annual appraisal since 2016. It rates as no. 2 among 24 plants over here in terms of the rate of waste disposal capacity, moreover, its electricity selling amount (140,000 MWh) and electricity selling rate (81%) hit the historical high. 

Because of in operation for 20 years, ECOVE Tainan Plant is subjected to equipment aging and energy consumption. Every annual repair, ECOVE invested lots of manpower and resources to reduce wear and enhance incineration efficiency. On a year-on-year basis, the operating rate increased by 4.6% ; the power generation increased by 2,540 MWh; the waste disposal amount increased by 9,400 metric tons.

Criteria of the nationwide annual evaluations for 24 incineration plants include operating performance, waste landing inspection, incineration plant slag, and stabilized fly ash control, all of which are conducted on site randomly.

The 5 awards confirm the long-term commitment and performance of ECOVE. In the days to comes, ECOVE will continuously commit to improve operating performance, environmental protection, pollution prevention, carbon reduction, and technical upgrading to contribute to the community.
